Utah is a member of the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA). Motor carriers operating qualified vehicles in Utah must report all miles traveled and fuel purchased in the state on their quarterly IFTA returns.
Fuel purchased in Utah generates a tax credit at the rate of $0.3450/gallon for diesel. If you travel more miles in Utah than the fuel you purchased would cover, you'll owe additional tax. If you purchased more fuel than you used, you'll receive a credit.
