IFTA in Ontario
Ontario is a member of the International Fuel Tax Agreement. Carriers operating qualified vehicles in Ontario report all miles traveled and fuel purchased in the state on their quarterly IFTA returns.
Fuel purchased in Ontario generates a tax credit at the rate of $0.1430/gal/gal for diesel. If you put more miles on the road in Ontario than the fuel you purchased there would cover, you owe additional tax. If you purchased more fuel than you used, you receive a credit.
